The Mathematics Section of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva is recognized worldwide for the excellence of its research in mathematics and offers a stimulating environment for scientific work in this field.
An 80% doctoral position for a period of 4 years is open to the Mathematics Section.
The candidate will carry out research in the fields of combinatorics and representation theory under the supervision of Professor Jehanne Dousse , as part of the Eccellenza grant “Partition identities and interactions” of the FNS.
More precisely, he/she will be interested in the connections that can exist between combinatorial results (the identities of partitions of the Rogers-Ramanujan type) and the study of representations of affine Lie algebras and their crystalline bases. Research topics can be oriented more towards combinatorics or towards representation theory depending on the interests and skills of the candidate.
The candidate will also participate in the teaching activity of the Section as an assistant. His main tasks will be the animation of exercise sessions and the correction of exams.
The candidate will be remunerated according to the salary conditions of the SNSF and the University of Geneva (approximately CHF 55,000/year gross).
Title and skills required
The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in mathematics (or title deemed equivalent) on the date of the appointment. He/she must have a real interest in research and a good command of the English language.

We are welcoming applications for a PhD position at 80% for 4 years in the Mathematics Department. The successful candidate will conduct research in the fields of combinatorics and representation under the supervision of Professor Jehanne Dousse, as part of the Eccellenza grant “Partition identities and interactions” of the SNSF.
