The Department of Earth Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Geneva offers a position of assistant professor in energy geosciences. The selected person will have to contribute to teaching and conduct innovative research in the fields of energy geosciences, in line with those of the Geo-energy, reservoir geology and sedimentary basin analysis (GE-RGBA) group. will be called upon to obtain external research funds from public as well as private organizations in Switzerland and abroad.This position also involves project management and organization tasks.
Title and skills required
The ideal candidate holds a doctorate in geosciences, has demonstrated scientific mobility during their postdoctoral studies and is able to carry out innovative research. He/she must be highly skilled in the integration of subsurface geological and geophysical data, specifically 3D seismic reflection data, to characterize sedimentary basins for geothermal energy exploration, geohazards, exploration of hydrocarbons in deep waters and for the capture and storage of carbon dioxide (CO 2). In addition, the publication of research results in reputable scientific journals and their presentation at national and international conferences and to funding partners is essential. The candidate will have a proven track record of academic leadership, research, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
In particular, we are looking for someone with experience teaching 3D seismic interpretation, petrophysics, and static and dynamic reservoir modeling. Must have experience using and teaching the following subsurface interpretation software: INTERSECT, PETREL, KINGDOM, TECHLOG, ROCKDOC, ArcGIS and MOVE.
