Job Description

Your mission :

The goal of the mm-scale nano-watt sensor system is to penetrate into small spaces where the previous generation of sensors (current day’s IoT devices) could not enter physically. As our continuing endeavor, we are now looking into putting sensors into a textile fabric!
In this project, we will create an extremely small and low-power image sensor, using unique charge-domain circuitries.
Main duties and responsibilities include :
Develop an extremely small and low-power image sensor chip

  • Responsible for the full-chip image sensor design
    • Architecting and implementing a novel kind of signal acquisition path – including amplifiers and ADCs
    • Implementing peripheral circuits for the image sensor to form a fully-functioning integrated system – row driver, controller, power management unit, etc.
  • Lead the integration of the sensor into the system-on-fabric
    • Performing characterization of the performance (e.g., TN, RN, HN, PRNU, DRNU, etc.)
    • Developing a system with existing ultra-low-power chips from the University of Michigan, known as the M3.
  • Detailing the report for the funding agency

Your profile :

  • Necessary qualification:
    • Good communication/presentation skills in English
    • Good knowledge/experience on the following topics:
      • Charge-domain circuits
      • Dynamic amplifiers
      • Analog to digital converters
      • energy efficiency
      • Voltage/energy conversion circuits
      • integrated circuits design flow:
        • analog design, digital synthesis, layout, place and route…
    • Fluency in using Cadence Virtuoso Suite
    • Fluency in using SPICE simulators (HSPICE, FineSim, AFS, etc.)
    • Fluency in using PCB design suite (Altium)
  • Preferred qualification
    • Solid background and/or experience in image sensors design
    • >2 years of working experience in the industry is preferred
    • No restrictions in working with U.S. partners
    • Fluency in scripting with Python
    • Fluency in running simulations on the Linux terminal

We offer :

  • A multidisciplinary working environment and excellent working conditions at the laboratory based on the Neuchâtel campus (our building is quite new!)
  • High salary and pension contribution commensurate with EPFL standards
Start date :
Summer of 2023
Term of employment :
Fixed-term (CDD)
Work rate :
100%
