Job Description
Our team for electrochemical energy storage focuses on fundamental aspects of novel battery concepts like sulfur cathodes and lithiated silicon anodes. Our aim is to understand the fundamental mechanisms that lead to their marked capacity fading. We have a strong expertise on operando studies of battery systems, which is closely connected to our efforts to synthesize new carbon nanostructures as cathodes for lithium/sulfur cells.
As a postdoc in our team, you will advance the development of metal-based catalysts. At HZB you will have the chance to pursue your research with a family-friendly employer in a motivating and appreciative atmosphere.
Your Tasks
- You will develop methods, e.g., multimodal operando methods and procedures, e.g. with the aim of performing UV/vis, Raman and impedance spectroscopy simultaneously.
- You will apply scientific methods, e.g., operando analysis of electrochemical systems, cyclic voltammetry, UV/vis spectroscopy, and X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
- You will assemble operando cells in a glovebox with an inert working atmosphere.
- You will process and visualise data from research results using automated evaluation and presentation algorithms implemented in MatLab, Python, or Wolfram
Mathematica. - You will present and discuss your research at international conferences and workshops.
Your Profile
- Completed scientific university studies in the field of materials science, physics, or chemistry
- Knowledge of theoretical basics in the field of electrochemistry
- Advanced knowledge of script-based data analysis
- Very good experience in applying for measurement time in large-scale instrumentation research
