Job Description
The newly created staff position in science management reports directly to the administrative management. Administrative processes are planned, initiated and implemented here. This means: You actively shape the future of the MPL. With the new Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine, which is currently under construction, exciting research areas in the border area between physics and medicine will be added in the near future. You will work at the interface between administration and science and thus gain a comprehensive insight into many processes and projects at a research institute. We will familiarize you with basic administrative questions as well as the academic support area. At the same time, you will be responsible for compliance, export control and customs matters right from the start. You work largely on your own responsibility and we will support you professionally.

Your tasks:

  • Supporting the administrative management in strategic and operational management tasks, monitoring and optimization of organizational processes, especially in the areas of export, customs and compliance
  • Support for projects to optimize, document and introduce new processes and organizational structures
  • Creation and revision of processes, internal guidelines, checklists and practical tips
  • Goal-oriented, trusting cooperation with the relevant internal departments, such as the administrative management, the general administration, the institute administration and the scientific organizational units
  • Preparation and evaluation of preliminary inquiries and approvals regarding export controls and customs clearance as well as coordination with authorities
  • Checking the export control documentation for completeness and plausibility
  • Development of regulations, including company agreements, audit inquiries
  • Support in setting up the compliance structure for the export control system
  • Development and implementation of processes to monitor and comply with regulatory requirements in the area of ​​compliance
Your profile:

  • You have successfully completed a scientific degree with a doctorate and would like to gain initial professional experience in a university environment or a research institution.
  • Ideally, you have already acquired knowledge of science administration, science management or project coordination in a scientific environment.
  • We would like to have business or legal knowledge as additional qualifications; At least we don’t expect any reservations and a willingness to delve into these topics.
  • Initial knowledge of export controls would be an advantage 
  • You have structured, solution-oriented and entrepreneurial thinking and enjoy dealing with employees from different departments/nations
  • You work with commitment, methodically diverse, with high professional standards and a strong implementation orientation, but also with a realistic view of what is possible.
  • We are looking for a person who enjoys driving work and decision-making processes forward together and creating ideal conditions for excellent research on a daily basis.
  • If you can quickly familiarize yourself with different and new subject areas, are dynamic, eager to learn, organized and service-oriented, you are a good fit for us!
  • We assume excellent knowledge of German and English.
