What requirements do I have to meet for the vocational training?

You should have at least a good secondary school leaving certificate, ideally a secondary school leaving certificate, and be able to show at least a grade 3 in technology, mathematics and physics (secondary school: grade 2). Interest in technology and mechanical-technical processes as well as manual skills, logical and spatial thinking are an advantage. Because you will be dealing with technical equipment, accuracy, care and good hearing and vision are important in this job.

How is the training structured? What content can I expect?

Your vocational training is based on a dual system, ie it takes place in the company and in the vocational school. Her vocational school is the Max-Eyth-School in Stuttgart. You will learn the basics of filing, drilling, sawing, turning and milling and, accordingly, you will carry out various turning and larger milling jobs. In the second year of your apprenticeship, you will learn about pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, CNC milling and CNC turning. In the 3rd year of training, you will receive an introduction to programmable logic controllers (PLC). In the 4th year you will also take part in a welding course. You will create your own precision engineering equipment and manufacture precise individual parts and small components from various metals and plastics according to work plans and technical drawings. You will complete a large part of your training in a team. An important part of the training at our institute is the construction of prototypes.

It is possible, in consultation with your trainer, to also acquire the qualification to become an electrician. During your training (after 1½ years) you will take an exam, the result of which counts for 40% of the overall exam. You will be specifically prepared and supported for this by your trainers.

Where do you work after training as an industrial mechanic?

Industrial mechanics can work in a wide variety of industries. You will mainly work in workshops, workshops and production facilities and will be deployed at different work locations.
