The GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerator facilities for science. In the next few years, the new facility FAIR ( Facility for Antiproton and I on Research ), one of the largest research projects worldwide, will be built in international cooperation. GSI and FAIR offer the opportunity to work in this international environment with a team of employees who are committed to doing world-class science on a daily basis.

an apprentice (d/m/f) as an IT specialist

Your profile:

• You have a high school diploma, high school diploma or a vocational school diploma.
• You are interested in technical tasks and have experience with electronic media.
• You have a secure handling of the PC/Internet and the common MS Office applications would be desirable.
• You have initial network knowledge and experience with hardware and software would be an advantage.
• You are responsible, reliable, a team player and flexible.
• You are characterized by your own initiative and willingness to perform.
• You have good knowledge of English.

 

Your tasks:

• Planning, installation, configuration and management of complex IT systems
• Work organization, project management, quality assurance
• Service-oriented handling and advice for users
• Error analysis and troubleshooting on systems
• Telephone and network administration
• Implementation and management of databases
• Entry, maintenance and expansion of the data centers
• Management of backup and long-term archiving
• Using different programming languages
• Protection of IT systems and networks.
